Je vous ai entendu pour la première fois au Vauban il y a un an et demi : mes horizons harmoniques, techniques (élevés de mélomane et très pauvres de musicien) ont voyagé et se se sont enrichis. Merci : quel moment merveilleux... Depuis j'écoute vos disques : mon Dieu... (je ne suis pas croyant pourtant).Vous semblez avoir l'humilité des grands en plus... Calme et virtuose : l'opposé de Sarkozy en politique qui s'agite -quoique bien intentionné je pense- mais qui ne fait pas grand chose... En plus j'ai appris que vous vous êtes formé tout seul -juste cette dimension pourrait alimenter une conversation si j'ai la chance de vous revoir.... J'écris des chansons et je sors un CD, enregistré ds le cap sizun, au printemps prochain : "les carrefours de l'âme" (un titre qui vous plaira peut être?). Hugh's Room concert in Toronto My wife Chi Chi and I were at Pierre Bensusan's Hugh's Room concert in Toronto last Friday. I meant to send a note to the list then. We both really enjoyed the evening so much. Chi Chi is from the Acadian area in New Brunswick and we met in France a long time ago - Pierre told a story about his time in Nice... That helped to draw us in, but his playing and singing were so compelling. As someone who plays in DADGAD most of the time, I was interested in seeing him from a guitarist's perpective. I'd been aware of his name, but hadn't investigated further. He transcends the guitar tuning he uses, his playing is so fluid and his music crosses many (artificial) boundaries with ease. Coming soon after a meeting I had with Martin Simpson in England (where I'd gone to visit my Mum), this has been an inspiring month for me for acoustic guitar playing... I saw Pierre in Vancouver in the late 70's at the Soft Rock Cafe when I was a music student and aspiring guitarist. I was completely amazed at how he could play back then at such a young age. Somehow, I missed him all the years since then except for a tape of some of those earlier songs. When he played recently at Cap College in North Vancouver where I live, I was ecstatic that I had a chance to reconnect and added many new cd's to my collection. Again, I was blown away by his creativity and musical gift (and his humor and humility) and the way he has developed since I'd seen him over 25 years earlier. This time I brought my son who is 13 and learning guitar. What an awesome experience to share together. Pierre is such a treasure and inspiration in so many ways. All that can be done is to appreciate as much of him as we are fortunate enough to experience. I believe that God blesses some people in special ways and for unique purposes and that Pierre is fulfilling a unique musical destiny but also something even greater too. I hope you don't mind me sharing that but I guess I just needed someone else in the world to hear how important and valuable I think it is that people like Pierre are supported so they can inspire as many others as possible. Hi Pierre, You and I have met on a number of occasions, most recently at Joes Pub, an excellent and intimate New York listening room. I have been a fan ever since your first album of Celtic music was released. I have all your albums, signed, as does my son Ryan. I am writing to tell you that my son and I and another friend will be at your concert in Tavernier Florida, on February 21st. I am coming down from New York just to hear you. I watch your tour schedule and track your New York and New England appearances. Imagine my surprise to see you scheduled to appear on the same stage as Leo Kottke. Leo is another long time favorite of ours, but you have been at the top of our list for many years. The day after the concert, February 22nd is my 66th birthday, so it is my birthday present to myself to bring my son, and a good friend, and come and hear you and enjoy a few days in the Florida sun. I have been on the phone with David Feder, attempting to work out seating arrangements that ensure we will be right down front for your show. Hello, We live in Creston, British Columbia, Canada. This is in the southeastern section of the province on the border with Idaho, U.S.A. We managed to see Pierre at International Guitar Night in Duncan, BC on Vancouver Island in 2002. He and the other perfomers barely made it through a snowstorm. It was the first time we had ever heard or seen Pierre. We have been pleasantly hooked ever since! Looking forward to Altiplanos and wishing we could see him perform again, but it doesn't look from the schedule like he is coming close to our part of the world on the tour. Too bad! Pierre, I was there, at le TMS folk club in 1970/1971. I remember the music, but not all the names. I remember a fantastic banjo player with what may have been Bill Keith banjo tuners. My friend, Marion Gengoux, introduced me to the TMS and I had the honor of playing some of my own songs one night next to St Germain des Pres on the corner of Place Furstenberg. Ah... "je me demande si elle m'a oublié..."

Une carrière et un superbe parcours pour quelqu'un que je revois encore en train de sécher les cours, la guitare à la main sur les marches du gymnase du lyçée à Paul Langevin à Suresnes. J'habitais Suresnes, j'allais souvent le vendredi soir à la MJC et j'étais présent lors de ton concert avec Bill Keith dans cette même MJC; de même qu'au centre américian avec Long Distance et Cyril Lefèbvre. Au fait, un truc qui va te faire plaisir : un jour, en 1980, alors que je vivais à San Francisco, j'étais allé à Tower Records pour acheter des disques : et par curiosité, j'ai jeté un oeil dans le bac chanson française : il y avait 2 disques de Aznavour, un de Piaf et un de toi !!!! N'es tu pas allé à un moment vivre au Mexique, ou en Californie car il me semble t'avoir apercu un jour !!! mais j'ai pas osé me présenter. Et puis une américaine, qui vivait au Mexique avec mon frère semblait te connaitre aussi : mais je ne me rappelle plus de son nom, elle vit maintenant en Suisse, je crois. Bon, t'en a pas grand chose à faire de tout ce que je te raconte, puisque tu ne me connais pas, mais je te félicite tout de même pour ta superbe carrière et surtout ta réputation quasi mondiale pour ce qui est du jeu de guitare acoustique. Bravo pour tes disques, et pour tes master class. Je te laisse. Y'a en ce moment une pub qui passe avec un mec qui chante comme toi, Jose Gonsalez, j'ai cru que c'était toi. J'ai toujours ton premier disque, Près de Paris et je l'écoute souvent. Tu as compris que je suis un ancien de Paul Langevin, en terminale, tout comme toi.
